How to download a Facebook Reel
Open the Reel in the Facebook app, tap the share icon (the arrow or paper-plane on the right of the clip) and choose Copy link. On a computer, click the Reel's three-dot or share button and pick Copy link, or copy the URL from the address bar. Paste the link into the box at the top of this page and press Download.
A moment later the Reel comes back as an HD MP4 in the best quality Facebook served, usually up to 1080p, with its sound already included. On a computer and on Android the file lands in your Downloads folder; on iPhone it saves through the share sheet into the Files app. Nothing to install, no account to create.
Why the Facebook app won't save a Reel to your phone
Facebook's app has a Save reel option in the three-dot menu, but it only bookmarks the Reel to your Saved collection inside Facebook — it doesn't put a video file on your phone, and if the creator deletes the Reel your saved copy vanishes too. The only in-app alternative is a screen recording, which captures the buttons and caption along with the video, drops frames and re-compresses the picture. Pasting the link here skips all that and gives you the original source file, full-frame and full quality.
What you get: an HD MP4 with the Reel's sound
Reels are short vertical clips — up to about 90 seconds — and they download in that same portrait shape as one HD MP4, usually up to 1080p when the creator uploaded in HD. There's no quality menu, no WebM and no separate audio button; you paste a link and get one clean file, with no watermark across the frame.
Most Reels are built around a music track or trending sound, and that audio is baked into the video Facebook serves, so it comes through in the MP4 exactly as it plays in the app. Facebook streams a Reel's picture and sound as two separate streams — which is why raw downloads elsewhere can play silent — so this tool merges them automatically. It saves the video with its sound, not a standalone MP3 of the song.
Which Reel links work, and which don't
The tool takes Facebook's standard Reel link shapes: a direct Reel URL (facebook.com/reel/…), a share link (facebook.com/share/r/…) and fb.watch short links, plus mobile m.facebook.com versions. Both the Reel's Copy link button and the browser address bar give you a URL in the right form.
What it can't reach is anything behind a login. Reels on private profiles or restricted to followers aren't served to the open web, so no link-paste tool can fetch them. A plain profile or Page address isn't a Reel link either — you need the URL of the specific Reel. If a link from another app won't resolve, open the Reel in a normal browser and copy the clean facebook.com link.
Why a Reel download fails
By far the most common cause is that the Reel isn't public: Reels on private accounts or limited to followers can't be fetched by any legitimate tool, because the file isn't on the open web. Any site claiming to unlock private Reels is overpromising or fishing for your password — never enter it.
The next causes are the wrong link — a profile URL, or a Reel that's since been deleted or taken down, which resolves to nothing — and quality: if a Reel comes back at 720p or looks soft, Facebook only stored it that way, and the tool can't add detail the creator never uploaded. Copy a fresh link and check it still opens in a logged-out browser.
