How to download LinkedIn videos from public posts, events and Live

LinkedIn has no download button for the videos in your feed, so this LinkedIn video downloader fills the gap: paste the link to any public post and save its video as an MP4 with sound, in 720p HD whenever LinkedIn has an HD copy. It handles natively uploaded videos, event and LinkedIn Live recordings, and video ads that are published as public posts. There's no signup, no login and nothing to install; the whole thing runs free in your browser on desktop and mobile.

To grab a link, open the post, click the three-dot (…) menu and choose Copy link to post — that's the share path LinkedIn gives you, since there's no Save button on a video. Paste it into the box above and press Download; on desktop and Android the MP4 lands in your Downloads folder, and on iPhone it saves through the share sheet into the Files app. Only public posts work: videos inside private profiles or member-only groups sit behind a login and can't be fetched by any tool. The tool never asks for your LinkedIn credentials, and the author is never notified that you saved their clip.

How to download a LinkedIn video, step by step

On desktop, open the post, click the three-dot (…) menu in its top-right corner and choose Copy link to post. On the mobile app, tap the same three dots on the post and pick Copy link to post. Paste whichever link you have into the box at the top of this page and press Download.

Within a few seconds you get the video as an MP4 with its sound, in 720p HD whenever LinkedIn has an HD copy. On a computer and on Android the file saves to your Downloads folder, ready to drop into a slide deck, an email, or a reupload.

iPhone works a little differently: Safari saves the file through the share sheet into the Files app rather than straight to the camera roll. To move it into Photos, open Files, tap the MP4 and choose Save Video. No LinkedIn account, app or extension is needed at any point.

What you can download from LinkedIn

The core case is video natively uploaded to a public post — a founder's update, a product demo, a conference clip — saved as a clean MP4 with its original audio. Reshared videos and video posts from company pages work the same way, as long as the post itself is public.

Event and LinkedIn Live recordings download too, once the broadcast has finished and is posted publicly on the event page or in a feed update. Video ads work as well when they're published as a public post you can copy a link to — many boosted posts are, which is what makes the tool useful for ad and competitor research. Ads that run only as in-feed 'dark posts' with no public URL can't be fetched, because there's no link to paste.

Documents and image carousels are a different animal. A LinkedIn carousel is either a multi-slide PDF document post or a set of still images — neither is video. For a PDF document post you don't need this tool at all: LinkedIn shows a download arrow on the document itself, so you can save the original PDF straight from the post. This page is for the video in a post, not the slides.

Which LinkedIn links work, and which don't

The tool accepts standard public post links. The cleanest is the one the three-dot menu's Copy link to post produces (linkedin.com/posts/…); a feed-update URL from your browser's address bar (linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:…) works too, as does a public event link, and shortened lnkd.in links usually resolve once expanded.

What won't work is anything that isn't a public post: a profile URL (linkedin.com/in/…) or a company-page URL isn't a video link, and posts inside private or member-only groups sit behind a login. If LinkedIn shows a "Sign in to view" wall on the post, no download tool can reach it. When a paste fails, open the post in a normal browser first, confirm it plays without logging in, then copy a fresh link.

Why a LinkedIn download fails

The most common reason is that the post isn't truly public. If it's visible only to connections, restricted to a group's members, or gated behind LinkedIn's login wall, the video file isn't served to the open web, and no third-party tool can fetch it. Any site claiming to pull private LinkedIn videos is overpromising — or fishing for your LinkedIn password, which you should never enter anywhere.

Deleted, expired or region-limited posts also fail, because the link resolves to nothing. An author can take a post down, and an event replay can be removed after the fact; once that happens there is nothing left to download.

If a clearly public post still won't download, the link itself is usually the culprit — a URL copied from a screenshot, an app preview or a truncated share can be malformed. Re-copy it with the three-dot menu's Copy link to post, make sure the post opens for a logged-out visitor, and try again.

No LinkedIn login, and why professionals use it

The tool never asks for your LinkedIn credentials, and it never needs to — everything is fetched from the public post, so there's no sign-in, no OAuth prompt and no password to hand over. That matters on LinkedIn, where a third-party tool asking to "connect your account" is a genuine account-safety risk; this one simply takes a link and returns a file.

The author isn't notified either. LinkedIn doesn't tell someone when their public video is downloaded, and because you never log in, nothing is tied to your profile.

The practical uses are professional: repurposing your own posts into a slide deck or newsletter, saving a talk or webinar clip for offline viewing on a flight, and pulling competitors' public video ads for research. Whatever the reason, download only public content and respect the creator's copyright — saving a video for personal reference is one thing, reposting it as your own is another.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is SnapDownloader for LinkedIn?+

SnapDownloader is a free, browser-based LinkedIn video downloader for public content. Paste the link to any public post and it saves the video as an MP4 with sound, in 720p HD whenever LinkedIn has an HD copy. There is no account, no app and no browser extension, and it never asks for your LinkedIn login.

How do I download a LinkedIn video?+

Open the post, click the three-dot (…) menu in its top-right corner and choose Copy link to post. Paste that link into the box at the top of this page and press Download. There is no quality to pick — the tool automatically fetches the best version LinkedIn stored and saves it as a single MP4.

What types of LinkedIn content can I download?+

You can download natively uploaded videos from public posts, event and LinkedIn Live recordings once they are posted publicly, and video ads that are published as public posts you can copy a link to. This page saves the video in a post; image carousels are stills, and PDF document posts have LinkedIn's own download arrow, so you do not need a separate tool for those.

What quality will my LinkedIn download be?+

LinkedIn keeps two ready-to-play copies of each video — a smaller one and one of up to 720p — each a single MP4 with the sound included, and the tool always takes the bigger copy. So most downloads are 720p HD; a video uploaded at a lower resolution comes down at that size. There is no quality selector or format menu, and no separate WebM or audio-only option.

Do I need to install an app or sign up?+

No. SnapDownloader runs entirely in your browser with nothing to install — no app, no Chrome extension and no account. You do not create a login here and you never connect your LinkedIn account; you just paste a public link and download.

Is it safe, and does it need my LinkedIn login?+

Yes, it is safe, and no, it never needs your LinkedIn login. Everything is fetched from the public post, so there is no sign-in, no OAuth prompt and no password to hand over. Be wary of any "downloader" that asks you to connect or log in to your LinkedIn account — that is the main way such tools put accounts at risk.

Can I download a private or member-only LinkedIn video?+

No. SnapDownloader only works with public posts. Videos from private profiles, member-only groups or anything behind LinkedIn's "Sign in to view" wall are not served to the open web, so no download tool can reach them — and we will never ask for a password to try.

Can I download a LinkedIn carousel or document (PDF) post?+

A LinkedIn carousel is either a multi-slide PDF document post or a set of still images — neither is video, so this video tool does not handle them. For a PDF document post you do not need a third-party tool anyway: LinkedIn shows a download arrow on the document itself, letting you save the original PDF straight from the post.

Which devices does it work on?+

Any device with a web browser — iPhone, Android, Windows, Mac, Linux and tablets — with nothing to install. On desktop and Android the MP4 saves to your Downloads folder; on iPhone it saves through the share sheet into the Files app, from where you can move it into Photos.

Are there any download limits?+

No. You can download as many public LinkedIn videos as you like, free, with no daily cap and no account required.

Is it legal to download LinkedIn videos, and will the author know?+

Saving a public video for your own offline reference — reviewing a talk, keeping a webinar clip, researching an ad — is generally fine, and LinkedIn does not notify the author when you download it. Reposting or commercially reusing someone's video without permission can infringe their copyright, so credit the creator and get consent before you reshare.

SnapDownloader — free online video downloader

SnapDownloader is a free online video downloader that works entirely in your browser. Paste a link from Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Twitter / X, Pinterest, Snapchat, or LinkedIn and save the video to your device as the MP4 the platform serves, in HD whenever it has an HD copy — no software to install and no account to create.

Unlike browser extensions that read your browsing data or downloader sites buried in pop-ups, SnapDownloader processes your link in memory and forgets it. Downloads come out at the quality the platform provides, as an MP4 with sound.

It works on every device with a browser: iPhone, Android, Windows, Mac, Linux, and tablets. Android users can also install the SnapDownloader app: share a post to it from any app, tap Save, and the video goes straight to the gallery.

SnapDownloader only fetches publicly available videos and respects each platform's privacy settings — private accounts and protected content stay private. For guides on saving from each platform, read the journal or jump straight to a platform downloader.
